Description

In this workshop, we walk attendees through the basics of what a linux computer is and how the Olson lab uses it as a server. In the second part of the workshop, we introduce Owslnest, the high performance cluster (HPC) at Temple University and go over how you can get started using it.

Prerequisites

  1. Basic knowledge of bash scripting
  2. An OwlsNest account (optional)

Set Up (do before the workshop)

  1. Apply for an OwlsNest account with the High Performance Computing team here: https://www.hpc.temple.edu/

Workshop objectives:

  1. Learn about Linux machines and their uses
  2. Gain the ability to log on and navigate OwlsNest
  3. Review how to setup a script to be submitted to the cluster
  4. Learn how to submit that script to the cluster and monitor jobs
