Description
In this workshop, we walk attendees through the basics of what a linux computer is and how the Olson lab uses it as a server. In the second part of the workshop, we introduce Owslnest, the high performance cluster (HPC) at Temple University and go over how you can get started using it.
Prerequisites
- Basic knowledge of bash scripting
- An OwlsNest account (optional)
Set Up (do before the workshop)
- Apply for an OwlsNest account with the High Performance Computing team here: https://www.hpc.temple.edu/
Workshop objectives:
- Learn about Linux machines and their uses
- Gain the ability to log on and navigate OwlsNest
- Review how to setup a script to be submitted to the cluster
- Learn how to submit that script to the cluster and monitor jobs
